Prevention And Management Of Preterm Labor

- Implications For Practice

This guideline supports a standardized, evidence-based approach to the diagnosis and management of suspected preterm labor. Accurate assessment of the likelihood of preterm birth is essential to avoid both unnecessary intervention and missed opportunities for effective treatment.

Women at significant risk of preterm birth should receive timely gestational age–appropriate follow-up and interventions, including antenatal corticosteroids, magnesium sulfate for fetal neuroprotection, and tocolysis when indicated, together with referral or in-utero transfer to an appropriate facility when required.
