- Policy on the Rights of Sick Children

Purpose:

To uphold the rights of patients and their families.

Work Procedures:

The hospital complies with all regulations and laws issued by the Ministry of Health and the Medical Professions Union regarding patients' rights and their families. This is in accordance with the Professional Ethics Regulations issued by the Minister of Health under Decision No. 238 of 2003 and Ministerial Decision No. 186 of 2001. Based on these, the hospital adopts the following policies:

  • The right to receive care if available in the hospital.
  • The right to know the name of the treating physician, the supervising physician, and/or the responsible physician.
  • The right to receive care that respects the patient’s values and personal beliefs.
  • The right to be informed about and participate in decisions regarding their care.
  • The right to refuse treatment or discontinue it.
  • The right to safety, personal privacy, confidentiality, and dignity.
  • The right to receive appropriate pain management.
  • The right to file a complaint or suggestion without fear of persecution.
  • The right to know the costs of services and procedures.


- Policy on Responsibilities of Parents of Sick Children Towards the Hospital

Purpose:

To define the responsibilities of the child’s parents during their hospital stay.

Work Procedures:

  1. Patient Responsibilities, which include at minimum:

A. Following hospital policies and regulations, including:

    • Preserving hospital property.
    • Not keeping personal belongings.
    • Adhering to designated visiting hours.
    • Not bringing outside food into the hospital.
    • Maintaining silence and order during child visits.
    • Following the hospital’s no-smoking policy.
    • Fulfilling financial obligations per laws, regulations, and hospital policies.

B. Providing Information:

    • Parents must provide accurate and complete medical history and treatment details.
    • Parents must submit any required legal documents.
    • Parents should show respect to all healthcare staff and help maintain a quiet environment.

C. Following the Proposed Treatment Plan:

    • Parents must adhere to the child’s treatment plan set by doctors.
    • If parents fail to comply, nursing staff must inform the responsible physician and document the situation.
  1. Parents are informed of their responsibilities through the following methods:
    • Signing a general acknowledgment upon admission, confirming their commitment to hospital policies.
    • Nursing staff reading and explaining responsibilities to parents and obtaining their acknowledgment.
    • Posting a list of parental responsibilities on department doors/walls.
