Vision of Nursing Care in the Internal Patient Care Unit
The nursing staff members in the internal patient care unit aim to elevate the nursing profession and provide effective, safe, and high-quality nursing care to patients in the unit according to Egyptian, national, and global standards.
Mission of Nursing Care in the Internal Patient Care Unit
The nursing staff in the internal patient care unit is committed to enhancing the health level of patients and providing the best nursing care in alignment with the hospital’s goals, procedures, and nursing management. They also aim to enhance the scientific and practical levels of all nursing staff members in the unit and change their attitudes toward modern trends in nursing and medical sciences.
- Bleeding
- Bleeding is the loss of a large amount of blood, more than 500 cm³ after childbirth, affecting the general condition of the mother.
- Types of Bleeding
- Primary bleeding: Occurs within the first 24 hours after delivery.
- Secondary bleeding: Occurs after 24 hours up to 42 hours post-delivery.
Classification of Blood Loss:
- Mild blood loss: Does not affect the mother’s pulse and blood pressure.
- Moderate blood loss: Affects the pulse and blood pressure (increased pulse and decreased blood pressure) but does not affect kidney blood flow.
- Severe blood loss: Results in increased pulse, decreased blood pressure, loss of consciousness, and affects kidney function.
- Factors Contributing to Postpartum Bleeding
- Uterine contraction disturbances
- Vaginal tears
- Retention of parts of the placenta in the uterus
- Uterine infection
- Signs of Bleeding
- Uterine relaxation
- Decreased level of consciousness
- Increased pulse and decreased blood pressure
- Cold extremities
- Pale face
- Reduced urine output
- Nursing Care for Bleeding Cases
- Uterine massage for 15 minutes
- Monitoring vital signs
- Monitoring fluid balance
- Performing an ultrasound to determine the cause of the bleeding
- Replenishing lost blood with intravenous fluids
- Performing a complete blood count to monitor developments
