- Complications of Hysterectomy (Uterus Removal)

  1. Anesthesia-related issues, including coma, allergic reactions, or respiratory problems.
  2. Wound infection.
  3. Temporary bowel inactivity.
  4. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) due to prolonged bed rest.
  5. Excessive bleeding during or after surgery.
  6. Reduced sexual function or libido.
  7. Abdominal pain or pain during intercourse.
  8. Injury to nearby organs (bladder, intestines, or major blood vessels).
  9. Accidental ureter ligation, potentially leading to kidney failure. (This occurs in 2.2%–3% of cases, depending on the surgical approach: abdominal, laparoscopic, or vaginal.)
