Surgical complications
- Complications of Hysterectomy (Uterus Removal)
- Anesthesia-related issues, including coma, allergic reactions, or respiratory problems.
- Wound infection.
- Temporary bowel inactivity.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) due to prolonged bed rest.
- Excessive bleeding during or after surgery.
- Reduced sexual function or libido.
- Abdominal pain or pain during intercourse.
- Injury to nearby organs (bladder, intestines, or major blood vessels).
- Accidental ureter ligation, potentially leading to kidney failure. (This occurs in 2.2%–3% of cases, depending on the surgical approach: abdominal, laparoscopic, or vaginal.)
