Biosecurity in Poultry Farms

Over the last few decades the poultry industry – supported by technological advances in genetic selection, feed quality, growing methods, processing and marketing – has outstripped all other agricultural commodities in both, developed and developing countries. This is mainly due to poultry being the most efficient protein-producing (meat and eggs) domestic species with the lowest feed conversion ratio. The majority of the small-scale broiler farms and all most backyards were far from the implementation of biosecurity measures. Biosecurity situation needs a combined effort from stakeholders, poultry keepers in (backyard) to improve biosecurity level for these sectors.
