- The main types of disinfectants that can be used

1.   Aldhydes (i.e., formalin, formaldhyde and glutaradhyde).

1.  Chlorine –releasing agents (i.e.,  sod. Hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide, and chloramine).

1.  Iodophors (i.e., povidone-iodine).

1.  Phenols and bis-phenols (i.e., triclosan and hexachlorophan)

1.  Quaternary ammonium compounds.

1.  Pyroxygens (H2O2 and peracetic acid).
