Preparing and equipping the patient for surgery
- Upper arm preparation for surgery
Steps:
- Remove the patient’s clothing and adjust the blanket to expose the surgical site.
- Lift the arm and shoulder off the table to allow proper positioning.
- Place a sterile towel or drape under the shoulder and armpit for coverage.
- Prepare the surgical area, including:
- The entire circumference of the arm down to the wrist.
- The armpit (axilla).
- The upper part of the shoulder blade (scapula).
