Preparing and equipping the patient for surgery
- Preparation of the Chest and Breasts
Steps:
1. The anesthesiologist turns the patient’s head away from the area to be cleaned.
2. Remove the patient’s clothing and adjust the blanket below the preparation site.
3. Place a sterile towel or drape over the edge of the unsterile blanket and fold it inward.
4. Place a sterile towel or drape on the table under the shoulder on the affected side.
Prepare the area, including:
- The shoulder.
- The armpit.
- The chest.
- From the sternum to the opposite shoulder.
